In the 1980s, Lay Buddhist Liang Jiadong, now revered as Master Weiwu, planted the seeds of curiosity among his factory colleagues with his vegetarian lifestyle. This curiosity blossomed into a shared journey as Liang used lunch breaks to impart Buddhist principles, ultimately leading to the establishment of the Bayan Baru Buddhist Church in July 1985.
Under the adept guidance of Layman Liang, the Bayan Baru Buddhist Church not only thrived but also paved the way for the formal creation of the Sandalwood Foundation in January 1990.
